Re: uniPaaS v1.9p - Invalid number

Keith Canniff

Steve,

When I was using UP 1.9 I never had this issue, otherwise I would have had a huge error log since most of my fields are controlled by pictures like this.

The fact that the error says “Invalid number” concerns me that the problem is elsewhere. It’s a text field and UP has no clue it’s a “number”. Are you sure you don’t have some sort of raised event that uses EditGet or similar that’s picking up the typed in value and trying to init another numeric field with the key pressed?

Steve,

What if you tried to catch the error with your own error handler?

I haven't tried myself, so I don't know if the log file is still written. It's worth a try.

Friends,
I submit for your consideration, please, a Magic variable, Attribute:Alpha, Picture:'#6U'

The Picture '#6U' of course, accepts strings like '123456G' – six numeric digits and one uppercase letter.

Further, if the user types a character that violates the Picture, Magic writes an error into the General Error Log, similar to the following:

<-1> 02/03/2020 15:09:55.557     [Error  ] - Invalid number, program: Pod Operations.Add InQueue Receipt Tote

I sure wish this non-error error wouldn't clog-up my log so. Does anyone know how to prevent Magic from writing this message into the General Error Log?

TIA.

Re: Screen scaling

Ah, I am testing in Studio, so it may do.

That would make it marginally better, but its still a lot of user effort.

Even the tiny area of our App that I would like to try scaling is still a couple of dozen forms. Not a particularly good 1st impression for a user.

It won't remember the level of scale if the user state identifier is set?

Placement with Automatic Font Scaling would make my day, but this isn’t it.

We would suggest to please check with XPA 3.3g and let us know if your problem is resolved.

Hello,

This email message is a notification to let you know that the following files have been uploaded to the Files area of the main@magicu-l.groups.io group.

Uploaded By: Steven Blank <sgblank@...>

Description:
This Magic xpa v3.3 project illustrates how to use the System.Net.Sockets classes TCPListener, TCPClient, and UCPClient to communicate with other devices using TCP and UDP. Such other devices might include, for example, materials-handling equipment. Illustrative programs included are: Demo_TCPServer – set up a TCPListener, wait for a request to connect, to a TCPClient, and converse. • Demo_TCPClient - spawned in parallel by Demo_TCPServer, illustrates how to set up a TCPClient, request a connection with a TCPServer and converse. • Demo_UDPClientSend - spawns Demo_UDPListener in parallel, set up an IPEndPoint and a UDPClient, and converse, with the demo or (with slight modifications) with another instance of itself on another computer. • Demo_UDPBroadcast - set up a UDPSocket and broadcast on a specific port. • Demo_UDPListener - set up a UDPListener, designed to work with Demo_UDPClient and Demo_UDPBroadcast. The author offers this project purely as an educational exercise (both his and yours), and makes no warranty, either explicit or implied, as to its suitability for anything. This was my first attempt at pure Magic Sockets, no C# snippets. It has yet to be peer reviewed so it's subject to update. Criticism gratefully accepted. :)

In 'X$File' (or, if referring to the actrual filename on disk: file.ddf) is a column defined as 'Xf$Loc' which should have the proper value for the location of your file.

Arch,

Did you also copy sample/test data files? DDFs alone won't work with Magic. At the very least, you also need empty data files underlying the table definitions defined in the DDFs.

I am attempting to retrieve data from the Sage Quantum 2020 Pervasive database. I have created a new database in the Pervasive Control Center (Version 10.30.17.000) and successfully imported the DDFs such that I can see Tables, Views, etc. there.

I reloaded version 4.6, checking the Pervasive SQL Database gateway. I un-commented the MGDB01=MGPervasiveSQL.dll in [MAGIC_GATEWAYS] section of the ini file.

When I try to open the Studio, the following appears:

When I look in the installation directory, MGPERVASIVESQL.DLL is not found.

Any ideas what I should do? Thanks!

Do you already have XPA 4.6.1 Todd?

Roberto, I have no specific scenario. Just Task online and events in record suffix with condition : Stat(0,'D'mode).
If you want to test Roberto, I can pass you an example by .edp.
Can you send me an email address?

I'm downloading it now, should be done by Sunday.   The bug fix list in the release notes does not mention your problem or my HTTPCall() problem. Hopefully the next release will address both our problems.

Sebastien

Unfortunately the newly released 4.6.1 does not address this problem.

Yes. and in the Help's File of 4.6, Magic write that's good to use stat(0,'D'mode) in Record Suffix : "Note: The D (Delete) status can be checked only in Record Suffix."
