xpa screen sizing

Steven Burrows

Placement is still where it’s at but there are some improvements been added:

  • Tables will autofill their size when columns have visible conditions on them, and each column has a Placement property to stop fields of fixed sizes changing (a wider date field helps nobody).
  • You still can’t easily make Forms automatically increase to match a larger monitor, but Forms can now be set as “Persistent”. It allows users with big or multiple screens to set things up where and how big they want just once, and XPA will remember those settings next time its run.

Not sure what problems you had in UniPaas, we used it a little then perfectly fine and use it a lot more in XPA now that we are heavily into subforms. Considering a changed screen size is now part of our standard development where in UniPaas it was not.

You might be excited (I was) if you see that there is a new Screen Scaling feature that can increase Font Size. Don’t be, if you need a simple screen for the visually impaired it might do a job, but its very restrictive and not for standard use in a sophisticated looking app. I hope someone else has had a more positive experience of it.

Greetings all.

Evaluating a move to xpa from unipaas in 2023.  How does screen resizing work in xpa?  In other words, can the screens easily resize based on monitor resolution?

I never could get it to work with placements, etc in unipqaas.

Thank you.
