Issue running eDeveloper on Windows Server 2016

Stephen Saxton

Hi everyone

Are there any "known" issues in running eDeveloper V9.4 SP5 on a Windows Server 2016 Standard Edition?

In the process of migrating an HTML Merge application written in eDeveloper from a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition; where the eDeveloper toolkit just opens up as normal.

In the past, I haven't had any issues just copying the magic folder from one computer to another and it just runs, but now when trying to run the eDeveloper toolkit, I get no reaction, no error messages; just my floating mouse icon after a couple of seconds of twirling "in progress" mouse icon.

Then the only new file I see is AppCrash_MGgenw.exe_fb497fd95928aab...

Steve,
As a minimum, you need to add mggenw.exe and mgrntw.exe to the list of DEP (data execution prevention) exclusions

Hi Sherm

Sorry so late to reply, must have missed seeing this in my folder.

This did work, just had to remember that the server needed rebooting also before it did work.  Because there were two instances of both MGGENW.exe and MGRNTW.exe; I grabbed all 4 files for inclusion in the DEP.  Success!

Looking forward to seeing you at Brown Bag in March!
