Software-escrow for XPA sources

Avgerinos

Hi magicians

Did you ever make use of software-escrow services?
I 'm interested in setting up a secure process, so that the source-code is provided to the client in case of discontinued development by the vendor.
Any shared experience or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Avgerinos

for no reason

The services in days gone by sold their source and were never prosecuted.

If such a service was properly bonded/insured the possible otherwise just protect with major encryption

I've always used Iron Mountain.
Expenses will vary based on what's being escrowed and number of companies that are added to the plan.

They are very knowledgeable and will walk you through the entire process.

Thank you Keith.
This was very helpful, since they also appear to have offices in Greece.

Do you have any special info/advice regarding magic apps?
For example, on each new version do you send them only the sources (xml)? Or you also provide them the means to verify that it compiles correctly?
Talking about a VM with the dev-environment, plus instructions on how to create the ECF (as an extra safety future for the customer)

Best Regards

We simply exported the source since we were only required to escrow the source, so nothing else. However you might want to escrow the Magic installer and ini files if you're working with an older version.
